Ricardo Bernardi, 1999
/Ricardo Bernardi is a full professor the Univeridad de la Republica, Uruguay and Head of the Department of Medical Psychology in the faculty of Medicine. He has served as part of the national committee that designed the national program for mental health in Uruguay.
Dr. Bernardi is one of the most outstanding researchers in Latin America. In numerous publications and in well designed protocols, he has dealt with important conceptual and clinical issues, such as the shifting nature of the content of interpretations given to patients over an extended number of years, signaling the influence over time of different theoretical orientations in a psychoanalyst’s clinical work. He has been extremely effective in organizing clinical research throughout Latin America and is one of the most distinguished Latin American methodologists regarding psychoanalytic technique. His work signals the importance and essential nature of scientific research, particularly systematic observations, for the future of psychoanalysis.
