Anna Freud Centre, 1992
/Anna Freud, the founder of Child psychoanalysis was most noted for her work with children and the concept of children undergoing analysis. She remained faithful to the basic ideas her father developed, however, her interests were more practical than theoretical and she devoted herself to the analysis of children and adolescents and to improving that analysis.
Anna Freud established the child and adolescent therapy and training institution known today as the Anna Freud Centre. She wanted therapy to be available for children in need, regardless of the family’s ability to pay. She wanted to create a training course specifically for therapeutic work with children. She wanted to apply psychoanalytic knowledge and skill to fields such as education and social and legal reform. She wanted a center where research was an integral part of its work.
The Centre remains dedicated to furthering the goals of Anna Freud.
