The Sigmund Freud Archives, Inc. for The Freud Museum in London, 1992

The Freud Museum is housed in Sigmund Freud’s London home. The Freuds were able to move all their furniture and household effects with them from Vienna, including Freud’s psychoanalytic couch. Included among their effects were the library and their personal papers and photograph albums.

In fulfilling the goal of creating a living memorial museum, programs sustain study and interpretation of psychoanalysis, psychology and psychiatry, the disciplines which Freud influenced so profoundly.

The Museum’s central function is to celebrate the work and lives of Sigmund Freud and Anna Freud and maintain their working environment. The Museum achieves this by conserving and developing the collections and their house at 20 Maresfield Gardens, London, by documenting and developing access to the collections, by maintaining education programs to increase the awareness of the work of Sigmund and Anna Freud, and by conducting and fostering original research into the collections.
